Killers are no longer as rare as they used to be. It is a scary thought but it is true. Usually when someone is convicted of murder and you watch the trial you will witness the horrified faces of their families in the background. But what happens when the entire family is in on it? It happens, I can tell you that. It takes family closeness to an entirely new level. A fairly shocking level.
Imagine having so much family support that you mother or siblings would go out killing with you and help hide the body. Some good ol’ family bonding. Although these cases are fairly rare there are three stories of killer families that are my favourite of all time. Let me get something straight. Although I have favourite killer families, I have no ambition or dream of going on a family killing spree.
Delfina & Maria De Jesus Gonzalez
These sisters are quite practiced murderers. They hold the Guinness World Record for being the “Most Prolific Murder Partnership”. They have an estimated total of 91 victims, all from the brothel that they ran together in Mexico. They would recruit women into their brothel and these women would then be force fed heroin and cocaine. If at any point the women got too ill, lost their looks or their ability to please customers, they would simply be murdered by the sisters. The sisters also killed any customers who arrived with large amounts of cash. It was only after another woman who got picked up by the police for kidnapping pointed them in the direction of the brothel that police made the horrifying discovery. After searching the property they found the bodies of 11 men, 80 women and several fetuses.
The Bloody Benders
The Benders family lived in Labette County, Kansas in the 1870’s. They were a German family that owned a small store inn for travelers. They had a special attraction as well. The daughter Kate, who spoke the best English, was considered a medium and would hold séances. This made their store inn quite popular. Often tired travelers would be invited to stay for dinner. After a series of missing persons led police to the Benders inn, the family suddenly up and fled one day. After searching the home and farm police found that near where the travelers would be seated at the table there was a trap door. There were litres of old blood found underneath the trap door. Other than that they found seven bodies buried on the land. The “guest of honour” would sit near the trap door and while distracted by the beautiful Kate performing her séance the male Benders would sneak up from behind and bludgeon the guest to death. The believed motive for this was robbery and just plain thrill. After all these years Historians are led to believe that the family members might not even have been related and possibly were not called Bender.
Inessa Tarverdiyeva and Family
Inessa and her family were often away on camping trips. Although, as it turns out, these “camping trips” were just a cover up for the insane amount of murders committed by this family. Nursery school teacher Inessa and her husband were responsible for over 30 murders. Included in their list of victims were 6 cops and multiple children. This list also, shockingly, includes Inessa’s goddaughter who was found with her eyes gouged out. The family was caught in September of 2013 and it is believed they were motivated by their hatred for the police. It came to light that her two daughters also took part in the murders, a great family bonding trip.
So maybe the next time your family drags you out on that walk that you really don’t feel like going on, just be grateful they are not coaxing you into dismembering a body into an acid bath.
