Clairaudience

Clairvoyance

  • “the supposed faculty of perceiving things or events in the future or beyond normal sensory contact”

Claircognizance

  • “the ability for a person to acquire psychic knowledge without knowing how or why he or she knew it.” This could be information on a person, event, place or even an object. The information just “comes to them”.

Clairsentience

  • “the ability to feel strongly and sense the emotions and feelings of people, animals, spirits and places around you.”

Clairaudience

  • “the supposed faculty of perceiving, as if by hearing, what is inaudible.”

Most people have had a clairaudient experience at least once in their life. You most likely have but just didn’t realise what it was. You might have passed it off as being stressed or tired and “just hearing things”. Majority of people learn to block out the background noises, the unimportant noises. This will cause you to have less and less clairaudient experiences until eventually you might have none at all.

Here is how you know you might be clairaudient:

1. Hearing someone say you name when there is no one around

Or possibly you thought someone was calling you only to discover that they were in the shower this whole time. We have all been there, in public, and you hear your name being called but when you look around you, searching for the one who desires your attention, you find that not only do you not know anyone there but they’re all staring at their phones, blissfully unaware of your existence. But you know you heard your name, clear as day.

2. You enjoy and NEED quiet time

The world can be noisy when you are hearing details that other people can’t. If you feel yourself exhausted by sound and craving to be in a quiet room by yourself with no noise then you might be clairaudient. Of course, you might just be tense from a long day but “clairaudient” sounds way cooler.

3. You are the psychologist of the family

You have no trouble listening to people and understanding what is they actually mean. People aren’t always comfortable conveying exactly how they feel but you always seem to know it anyway. You know that one thing actually means another and you are a master at knowing when someone is telling a lie. Because of this ability family and friends will trust you with listening to their troubles and giving advice. And sometimes, finding out information.

4. Hearing a ringing sound or high-pitched noises in your ears

This might be extremely annoying but it is one of the signs of clairaudience. Someone who is clairaudient can hear sounds on a different “sound plein” to others and this can often come through as ringing, buzzing or just a really annoying sound that stays for a while and nobody else can hear. You might also find that you hear certain sounds coming from objects that others might not. You can hear a ticking sound in the tv every time you put it on and although it drives you crazy, you’re the only one that can hear it. You can hear the watch ticking in the drawer in the room next door or maybe you can hear the neighbours alarm go off every morning at 4:02.

5. You can “hear” animals

This does not mean that animals speak to you in your mother tongue but it might mean that you occasionally hear what you might think is a thought from your animal. You will hear it loudly as if someone is speaking to you or possibly it just pops into your head with no explanation. You are sitting in the next room and suddenly you hear/sense a “help” coming from somewhere so you go into your room and find that your cat has something stuck around its paw that it cannot get off. Or maybe you go check on your puppy only to find it curled up on the bed having a bad dream.

6. You receive “signs” in songs and speech

This one can be tricky to determine. It will most likely occur during a time where a decision needs to be made, or when you are not sure what next move to take in your career or relationship. You might be thinking about moving companies and be unsure of whether you should go or stay. Then two strangers walk past you and only one part of the conversation catches your attention “you should just go for it”. This could be a sign to you that moving might be the right choice. You might have had a fight with your significant other and really need some advice. As you turn the car on the song “I will survive” by Tina Turner plays on the radio. This might be a clairaudient sign telling you what you should do. (Although I would strongly suggest not telling your SO that you are dumping them because Tina Turner told you to.)

Any of these above “symptoms” might mean that you are clairaudient. If you experience some of these but are not entirely sure, or perhaps you would like to learn some of these skills, then fear not because there are ways to practice your clairaudience and I am here to tell you what to do.

How do develop your clairaudient abilities:

1. Listen, but no seriously, LISTEN to music

This works especially well with classical music in which there is an orchestra or any music where there are a bunch of instruments being played. Focus on the song and follow one instrument. You can start with a more obvious instrument like the violin, follow only the violin throughout the whole piece. Now you can listen to the same song again but follow an instrument that is more in the background, like possibly the oboe. Follow the oboe throughout the whole piece. As you do this you will realise you can hear more and more instruments that you didn’t hear the first time. Another good exercise is to try and name all the instruments you can hear and follow each of them for a few bars.

2. Train yourself to listen to your background

Sit with your eyes closed and listen to what is happening around you. Focus on all the things you can hear. Try and find the smaller sounds somewhere. You will suddenly discover you can hear sounds you weren’t noticing before like the construction vehicles 8 blocks away. Once you have pinpointed what a sound is then attempt to pinpoint where it is coming from. Become completely aware of what your surroundings sound like.

3. Imagining Sound

For this you will need a very quiet space. You will once again close your eyes but instead of listening, this time you are going to imagine a sound. It is best to remember a sound from your past. Remember your cousin practicing piano while you were trying to sleep. Try to hear the sound of the piano and the sound of the pedals going up and down. Imagine the sound of the old busted car your dad used to drive. You can hear it coming up the road, you can hear the squeaking brakes as he parks and the sound of the the rusted door as he gets out of the car. Try to imagine a conversation between two people, make sure you can hear them speaking, you can hear the pages rustle as she looks for the right image she was going to show him.

4. Meditation & Raising Vibrations

This is very important. Nobody can handle a lot of noise and so meditation is important for that “quiet time” you now so desperately need. It is also a chance to clear your head. As I’m sure you know, sound travels via vibrations. Once you can feel or sense these vibrations then you need to start raising or lowering them one notch at a time. Raise or lower the vibration slightly and let it stay there for a while. You can keep this going for as long as you’d like. Do not freak out if you suddenly hear a voice or a sound you weren’t expecting. This is normal. You have focused yourself to hear sound travelling at a different vibrational level.

So, I decided that before I was going to write a post about how to do something, I would try it myself. It was an interesting exercise considering that I have always had very sensitive hearing.

Here is what I have experienced since I started practicing my clairaudience:

1. Ringing

I have heard a lot of ringing. And I mean, a lot. In some circumstances it was like someone hit me with a bell on my one ear. In the clairaudient world this usually means that someone or something is trying to contact you at a different vibrational level and you should change the level of your hearing in order to hear what they are trying to say. So far it has only happened at places where I cannot go into meditation and change my vibrational levels so, unfortunately, all I have heard is ringing.

2. A really kind imaginary friend

I was awake one night and couldn’t sleep properly. I was home alone as well, I promise. As I am rolling around trying to think of ways to get myself to sleep I heard someone say, “Are you ok?”. Since I could pinpoint where in the room it came from I freaked out a little, naturally, but eventually managed to pull myself together when I remembered that this was something I had been practicing to hear.

3. Music

This is one that keeps happening. Because music is usually playing throughout my day I don’t really pay attention to where it is coming from. It has happened a few times where I hear music, briefly and loudly only to realise a few seconds later that there is actually no music playing at that moment.

In conclusion I can say that it has been a noisy few weeks but it has been interesting. I will continue to practice the steps to develop my clairaudient ability even if it is only for the meditative reasons. Next time you hear something strange, a voice in your head, or perhaps a perfectly timed song, don’t be so quick to write it off because it might be a sign.
